The ministry of Mines and Energy of Cambodia (former: The Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy) granted the bauxite exploration license to Alex Corporation has cooperated with Aluminum Development (Cambodia) Corp Ltd. (hereafter referred to: ADCC) to carry out the business activity, and later on ADCC became the owner of the bauxite exploration project. ADCC has registered at the Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia in 2015, and was granted the bauxite exploitation license from the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 2018.
The project is located at longitude between 735,230m and 758,861 m (Easting) and latitude between 1,361,472m and 1,378,882m (Northing). The project area covers an area of 26,270 hectares, relating with 11 villages: Deum Sral village of Sangkat Monorom, Pu Loung village and Pu Tang village of Sangkat Romnea, Ou Spean village and Chamkar Tae village of Sangkat Spean Meanchey (these villages are within administrative area of Krong Sen Monorom); Pou Lao village Pu Chhab village and Pu Antraeng village of Dakdam commune, Pu Heam village Pu Rang village and Pu Tru village of Sen Monorom commune (these villages are within administrative area of Ou Reang district) of Mondul Kiri Province. Based on the exploration, there is a possibility about 200.88 million tons of ore in total in the project area, from which the exploitation was planned to extract in the amount of 6.38 million tons per year within 30 years.
